A joint venture in 1999 between the Texas Department of Economic Development and Texas Tech University 's National Wind Institute (NWI) created the West Texas Mesonet (WTM). Almost a quarter century after installing the first weather monitoring site, NWI in conjunction with Lubbock Christian University (LCU) has station 150 up and running.The 30-day Rainfall Accumulation map displays accumulated rainfall observed at each Mesonet site in the last 30 days. This map also displays the NWS Arkansas-Red Basin River Forecast Center's rainfall estimates (in color) across Oklahoma based on radar. During precipitation events involving ice, hail, or snow, the rain gauges used by the Oklahoma Mesonet may freeze over and record no rainfall.To access past Mesonet data, visit our Past Data page or submit a request.
